Theo Tobiasse was born in Jaffa, Israel in 1927. Due to his parents' travels, he grew up in Lithuania and Paris, where he studied art at the Ecole des Arts Decoratifs until the German occupation of France, when he went into hiding. After the war, he settled in Nice, France.

Tobiasse has participated in many group shows, including Salons, Biennials and Museum exhibitions. His works are displayed in many important collections, notably those of the Rothschilds in Paris, the Dayan family in Israel and many others.

Tobiasse, now 73 years old, is considered to be one of the most important living artists of the 20th century by art experts and historians. In the book Theo Tobiasse: Artist in Exile, best- selling author Chaim Potok describes Tobiasse as "A late-twentieth-century French painter fusing his heritage, his passions, and his dreams to the turbulent iconoclasm's of modern art."

Since 1961 Tobiasse has firmly established himself as one of the true masters of contemporary art worldwide. Often compared to Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall, Tobiasse has paintings and drawings in the permanent collections of many major art museums throughout the world, including the Louvre in France and the Hermitage in Russia. The value of his art has continuously escalated over the years in fine art galleries as well as the prestigious auction houses of Sotheby's and Christie's.
